Chameleon Peak

There are two major attractions in the Tsaranoro valley. The first is Tsaranoro, a wicked cool twin peak only accessible to professional climbers. The other is Chameleon Peak, a rock that looks like a chameleon which looks over the valley.
At first I was skeptical. I’ve been to places where people have claimed that certain geographical features looks like something. And as it turns out, they lie. Likewise, I was quite skeptical about this supposed chameleon peak. And my skepticism was proven wrong. By God, it actually looks like a chameleon!
Our day started off not too early with a quick breakfast before I met with Omega, Manal, and Peny, our local guide who needed to join us for all the hikes in the valley. There’s not much to say about chameleon peak. We went up the steep side of the mountain because I’m not the typical tourist they have. Others, like the group of French tourists, all in their 60s, went up and down the very gradual side and took the whole day. For my crew and me, we were back by the afternoon and had hiked 13mi. The climb was fun but not very challenging. There are few well defined hiking paths. Later on in the week we would walk through grass parts of the mountains where the “trail” was barely there (or not there at all) and the grass was almost as tall as me. But Chameleon Peak is the most popular hike in the valley, so there was actually a trail system.
There’s surprisingly no legends about the peak. It just looks like a chameleon. And we hiked to the head which looks out over the entire valley. So since there isn’t much to say about it, just enjoy the photos below.
As always, know that you are in my prayers each morning. All I ask is that you do the same for me.
May God be praised.
